I grew up in the small town of Calhoun, Georgia. From a young age, I always loved music and performing. At the age of seven, my grandad enrolled me in piano lessons and the rest is history. My piano teacher cultivated a deep love of music in my soul and shaped my future musically. What I loved about my piano teacher was the she taught me traditional music skills such as reading music, technique, and theory; but once I learned the foundational skills and basics of music she started allowing me to learn songs that I wanted to play and introduced me to a variety of genres of music. I continued to learn out of my lesson books and eventually classical literature books, but I also started playing songs that had meaning to me and lit my fire to continue to practice and learn the piano. I eventually started voice lessons, writing my own melodies, and starting to perform at local venues. In 2014, I even had the privilege of recording an EP track that was available on iTunes for a few years.
After completing undergrad with classical music training, I taught piano lessons in Georgia for some time, while working as a dance studio instructor and assistant. In the summer of 2016, I moved back to Chicago and started working in various roles at the Latin School of Chicago. Since then I have completed my MEd in Early Childhood Education and am certified as an elementary teacher. My studio has experienced much growth over these last few years and I am looking forward to continued growth and diversity. Teaching students music and laying a foundation for a lifelong love of music is what I love to do. I strive to teach them foundational music skills, while also stirring creativity and a passion for music. Being a former classroom teacher, pianist, singer, songwriter, and performer, I help all ages and levels of students tap into their musical potential and find their own artistry and voice as a musician.
